Personality

As a child, Kushina was known for being headstrong, impulsive, eccentric, and stubborn. Jiraiya described her as talkative and tomboyish, while Tsunade noted that many aspects of Naruto's personality and his ninjutsu style were inherited from her. Kushina had a verbal tic where she ended her sentences with "you know" when flustered or excited, a trait she hoped Naruto wouldn't inherit (he uses "you know") and her grandson as well. In the anime, it's shown that these traits helped her mask her insecurities about her red hair, being a foreigner, and being Kurama's jinchūriki, along with being somewhat nervous.

As an adult, Kushina was level-headed and cheerful, with a noticeable sassy streak. Despite her calm and kind demeanor, she retained her childhood quick temper and occasionally lashed out violently when angered, something she herself found unsettling. She was also fearless, though she did show anxiety over labor pains, surprising her friend Mikoto.
